ABOUT THE ITINERARY
Dive into a world of rich history, towering volcanoes and endless natural beauty with our Ecuador by Land itinerary.
You will begin your holiday flying into the capital city of Quito, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, seeing all of its historical and cultural wonders including the Guayasamin Museum, the colonial quarter, the temple of La Compania de Jesus and the Monastery of San Francisco.
The next stop will be in the famous ‘White City’ of Ibarra, where you will experience life in an authentic hacienda and explore one of the most visited sites in the country, Otavalo and its famous craft market. You will then make the journey through the Avenue of Volcanoes, seeing the stunning Cotopaxi National Park, the towering Chimborazo Volcano and the charming city of Cuenca.
Your luxury holiday will come to an end by returning to where the adventure began, Quito. For one final night, you will wander through its vibrant streets, discover its hidden gems and taste some its local cuisine. What better way to end a once-in-a-lifetime experience to the land of volcanoes and ancient wonders.
QUITO
You will fly into the capital city of Quito, where you will be transferred to your hotel downtown. The rest of the evening will be spent at your leisure.
On your second day, you will embark on a private tour of the Guayasamin Museum, before exploring the wondrous sights of the city’s colonial quarter including the Independence Plaza, the Presidential Palace, La CompañÃa de Jesús and the Monastery of San Francisco. You will then head to an artisan chocolate shop to enjoy a gourmet chocolate tasting experience.
Your third day in the city will be spent at your leisure, exploring the vibrant streets and hidden gems of this beautiful UNESCO World Heritage Site.

IBARRA
On your fourth day, you will be picked up from your hotel and transferred north to the ‘White City’ of Ibarra.
Staying in the authentic Hacienda Zuleta, you will enjoy a variety of activities such as hiking, mountain biking, horseback riding, horse-drawn carriage tours, condor and bird watching excursions and a complimentary cheese-tasting experience with cheeses produced in their own cheese factory.
You will also visit one of the most visited sites in Ecuador, Otavalo. Set at the foot of the Imbabura Mountain, you will wander around its famous craft market, before heading to the workshop of master weaver, Miguel Andrango. In the afternoon, you will travel to the Cotacachi-Cayapas Ecological Reserve to see the interpretation center and the Cuicocha lagoon, a deep-blue crater lake on the southern flanks of Cotacachi Volcano.

COTOPAXI NATIONAL PARK
On day seven, you will make your way to the spectacular Cotopaxi National Park, stopping in the morning to visit the historic estate of Hacienda Compania de Jesus, which is renowned for its stunning rose plantations and rich history.
For two nights, you will stay at Hacienda San Agustin de Callo, the perfect base for exploring Cotopaxi National Park and its surrounding Andean villages. Renowned as one of the only two major Inca sites in Ecuador, the hacienda offers a variety of exciting activities such as horse riding, mountain biking and outdoor excursions to see the snow-capped summits of the Cotopaxi and Antisana volcanoes.

CHIMBORAZO
Today, you will travel to the southeastern slopes of the Chimborazo Volcano.
Staying overnight at the Hosteria La Andaluza, you will be surrounded by the beautiful Andean landscapes and enjoy a resting and relaxing stop before continuing your journey through the Avenue of Volcanoes.

CUENCA
As you travel towards Cuenca, you will stop at the Balbanera Church, the first Christian temple built in the country, the Colta Lagoon, the Pitishi View Point and Ingapirca, an Inca observatory and fortress which is considered as the most important Inca site in Ecuador.
Your second day in the city will be spent discovering the beauty and charm for which Cuenca has been recongised as a World Cultural Heritage Site. On this walking tour, you will wander around the city’s colonial downtown area to enjoy the warmth and hospitality of its people, the colorful parks and plazas, religious monuments and handcraft shops.
On day 12, you will embark on The Craftsman’s Trail to the towns of Cualaceo and Chordeleg. Along the tour, you will meet families who are still making textiles the way the ‘Canaris’ (the pre-Inca inhabitants) did more than 500 years ago, as well as visit the workshops of a traditional jewelry maker, a guitar maker, and a ‘Chola Cuencana’ who stills makes straw hats in the traditional manner. You will also have the opportunity to visit an orchid farm that houses more than 2,000 species of orchids, one of the best in the world.

QUITO
After your tour of the surrounding areas of Cuenca, you will be privately transferred to the airport for your flight to Quito.
Upon arrival in Quito, you will be met and transported to your hotel to enjoy the evening at your leisure.

FLY HOME
In the morning, you will be collected and transferred to the airport to board your flight back home.
