Reached by a spectacular seaplane flight from Male, COMO Maalifushi is currently the only resort in the serene Thaa Atoll, making it the perfect away-from-it-all destination. Here you can start your days with sunrise yoga, and spend your afternoons at the water sports centre where you can pick up snorkelling gear, kayaks, windsurfs and paddle boards. The island is almost entirely surrounded by coral reefs teeming with parrotfish, butterflyfish and other tropical fish, with some excellent dive sites in the area too. Keen surfers will find some great breaks to enjoy nearby, whilst families can reconvene under the stars at the outdoor cinema.

Offering a mix of overwater and on land accommodation, the resort’s villas and suites all come with private pools and decking areas. In keeping with the island’s calm setting, interiors are minimalist in style with clean lines, thatched roofs and white-netted beds. Floor-to-ceiling glass doors open onto dreamy ocean vistas, whilst the oversized bathrooms feature vast, Japanese-style soaking tubs, as well as both indoor and outdoor showers.
