A stay at Mai Châu Ecolodge is all about immersing yourself in Vietnam’s rural culture, dining on home-cooked meals and soaking up the lush natural scenery.

Though just under a hundred miles from Hanoi, this eco-conscious lodge feels worlds away from the urban bustle. The surrounding valley is incredibly tranquil, home to small ethnic minority villages – the Thai, H’mong and Dao – that sit among a beautiful patchwork of paddy fields. Mai Châu Ecolodge blends seamlessly into this lush landscape, comprising just a handful of thatched hilltop stilt-houses in the village of Nà Phòn.

Rooms are airy and spacious with modern amenities, private balconies and outdoor showers. Through the plentiful use of local wood, bamboo, palm leaf and stone, they pay tribute to their natural surroundings. When not out hiking to nearby villages or cycling tranquil paths through the valley, you’ll find a spa offering traditional massages, a lagoon-style pool to dip into and two bars with stunning views.
