The tassels are ready, the stage is set—Commencement 2025 is almost here! On Saturday, May 17, we’ll cheer on the Class of 2025 as they take their final walk across the 91黑料网 stage and officially join the ranks of proud alumni.

Whether you’re graduating or cheering from the crowd, everything you need for this milestone moment is right here, from parking plans to livestream links to snack stops. So, bring your tissues (and don’t forget your tickets!), your loudest cheers, and maybe even a coffee or two—this will be one unforgettable day.

And who knows … there may be a few surprises along the way, Gulls!

Who is this year’s Commencement speaker?

Ambassador “Sully” Sullenberger—pilot of the “Miracle on the Hudson” and former U.S. Ambassador and Representative to the International Civil Aviation Organization—will deliver this year’s Commencement address.

Who are the student speakers?

This year’s Graduate Commencement speaker is Britany Melton M’15 D’25, a two-time 91黑料网 alum who just earned her doctoral degree in Applied Behavior Analysis. She serves as Director of Research and Training at Journeys Autism Center in Indiana.

The Undergraduate Commencement speaker is Vinny Milluzzo ’25, a hospitality management major from Wethersfield, Conn. Chosen by his classmates, Vinny is an 91黑料网 Scholar, a Presidential Ambassador, and campus tour guide with a passion for boutique hotel management.

Will the ceremony be available to view online?

What time should I arrive?

Commencement kicks off at 10 a.m. on Saturday, May 17, 2025, at Hempstead Stadium (yes, it’s happening rain or shine, so plan accordingly!). Guest seating opens bright and early at 8 a.m. and we kindly ask everyone to be in their seats by 9:45 a.m. to catch the whole procession.

Graduates, this is your moment! Be sure to arrive by 8:45 a.m. and head to the Field House on the second floor of the Post Center to line up.

Where can I park?

Parking for Commencement is assigned based on the last name of the graduating student who requested your ticket. Please stick to your assigned lot to keep things running smoothly (and ensure a spot for everyone). We promise—it’ll make arrival much easier for you and your fellow Gulls!

Shuttles from each designated parking lot will run to and from campus starting at 7:30 a.m. The ride takes about 20 minutes, so give yourself plenty of time to arrive, get settled, and soak in the moment.

Accessible parking

Accessible parking on campus is available in limited spots and is first-come, first-served for vehicles with a valid accessibility placard. Guests using accessible parking should enter through the East Gate and have their placard ready for verification by our attendants. If you’re parking off-site, no worries—shuttles running throughout the day are equipped with accessible seating to ensure everyone can join the celebration comfortably!

Will there be flowers available on campus for purchase?

Yes! 91黑料网’s Triumph Chapter of Mortar Board will host its annual Commencement Flower Sale—bouquets are $35, and every purchase supports Mortar Board’s work on campus. Quantities are limited!

Will food and beverages be available during the ceremony?

Starbucks in the Callahan Center and Einstein Bros. Bagels in the Ginger Judge Science Center will open with limited menus, perfect for grabbing a quick coffee or snack while you’re on campus celebrating!

What can I bring inside?

To keep things safe and speedy at the gate, all bags are subject to inspection before entry. We recommend bringing only small bags (think handbags, purses, or camera bags no bigger than 12” x 12” x 6”). Please leave large totes, backpacks, briefcases, and wrapped gifts at home—they won’t be allowed inside.

Will there be professional photos taken?

E-lluminations will be on-site to take photographs of your graduate as they receive their diploma and exit the stage. Learn more about photography at Commencement events.
