ISHASHA WILDERNESS CAMP, QUEEN ELIZABETH NATIONAL PARK

Intimate, eco-friendly safari camp

Thanks to its location within the national park itself, guests can expect to see wildlife roaming freely about camp, including vervet monkeys, elephant and hippo – the latter of which is often seen wallowing in the river just below the viewing deck. Expert guides will also take you further afield on game drives, bush walks and boat trips to see the area’s famous tree-climbing lions as well as some of the 600-plus species of birds. When not exploring the park, you’ll have the opportunity to visit the nearby community and school for a deeper insight into local life.

Designed to be as low impact as possible, each of the camp’s 10 canvas tented rooms has a private veranda overlooking the river’s flowing waters, as well as an ensuite bathroom, hot bush shower and large, mosquito-netted bed. The thatched central lounge is an inviting space to dine and relax in during the day, but meals can also be enjoyed al fresco by the river as well as secluded bush breakfasts. The outdoor fireplace provides the perfect spot for sundowners in the evening.

“PROFESSIONAL, PERSONAL – AND A REAL PLEASURE”
From the moment we got in touch, everything felt smooth and well looked after. The team were not only professional and thorough – providing tailored suggestions with clear costings – but also genuinely friendly. Even after we returned, a follow-up email (and a bottle of wine!) showed just how thoughtful Ultimate Travel really is. Nothing was too much trouble. We already have more trips booked and wouldn’t hesitate to recommend them.

“THREE HOLIDAYS IN AND STILL HIGHLY RECOMMEDED”
Dan Mills organised perfectly a challenging itinerary to incorporate a wedding we were attending in Kathmandu. A fantastic balance of trekking, rafting, safari, sightseeing and R&R. This was our third holiday with Ultimate Travel and we cannot recommend highly enough

“SERVICE THAT GOES THE EXTRA MILE”

The service we received from 91ºÚÁÏÍø was second to none. Tania took the time to understand exactly what we wanted and helped us explore every option clearly and thoroughly. Her first-hand knowledge of Kenya and safaris made a real difference – she explained everything brilliantly. The thoughtful extras, like the travel wallet and documents, were such a lovely touch – especially for someone who loves to travel well-organised! Thank you so much. We’ll definitely be back for future adventures.
