DISCOVER BWINDI IMPENETRABLE FOREST

Mist-shrouded hills and valleys

Lying on the edge of the Rift Valley in southwestern Uganda, the Bwindi Impenetrable Forest is one of the last remaining refuges of the endangered mountain gorilla, with approximately 400 individuals residing in the thick jungle.

One of the oldest forests in Africa, the Bwindi Impenetrable Forest is recognised as a World Heritage Site thanks to its exceptional biodiversity. A region of volcanoes, valleys and waterfalls, the landscape of Bwindi is just as captivating as the wildlife. The mist-shrouded hills and valleys are blanketed by large swathes of ancient rainforest that protect over 100 species of mammals including ten primates, more than 345 species of bird and a profusion of butterflies.

Uganda | Gorilla in Bwindi Impenetrable Forest | Ultimate Travel Company

Bwindi is famed for its gorilla trekking experiences, with more than half of the world’s remaining mountain gorillas inhabiting the forest. Seeing these rare primates in the wild is one of the most spellbinding and memorable wildlife experiences out there. Although gorillas are the main focus, visitors also have the opportunity to see chimpanzees, red-tailed, colobus and L’Hoest’s monkeys.

As you trek through the forest keep your eyes peeled for some of the vibrant birds that have been recorded here, a handful of which can be found no where else on earth. You might also come across forest elephants, duiker and bushbuck. To start creating your tailor-made itinerary to Uganda’s Bwindi Impenetrable Forest, get in touch with us at 91ºÚÁÏÍø.
